Keep It Simple, Stupid

You can’t beat it, most of us are so busy that anything given to us in a complicated format tends to mean that we don’t look at it in detail, or emails longer than a few lines cause us to inwardly groan and get left to the “read later” category. This means that we are likely to miss a huge amount of critical information for daily decision making.
I was helping a client this week with setting up some simple reports based on opportunities from their CRM. The client wants to have a simple list of the follow ups due for each sales person emailed daily. No complicated percentages of what, who, why or when, just these are the customers to call today. This was combined with a a chart showing the how the opportunities are funneled through their system, again not a long series of numbers, just one simple chart demonstrating the conversion of initial contacts to sales.
Everybody in this organisation knows what they need to do and how the business is tracking at a glance so they can spend time talking to the customers and generating sales. Good Job!
